THURSDAY JULY 3, 2008

SNAILHOUSE
CD release show

w/Tusks
Allison Outhit

The Drake Underground

Quote
Snailhouse - Dollar Signs
On Mike Feuerstack’s new album, his songs are at last given the summer they deserve — which is to say that they sound great, that the production (by Arcade Fire’s Jeremy Gara) imbues them with just the right amount of exhaust and bonfire smoke. “I try to make sense of the voice I heard,” Snailhouse sings, “a beautiful mosquito, an ugly bird.” They’re folk songs for city dwellers, for places where the streetlights never turn off, where flowers poke through asphalt. (Lies on the Prize will be released in June on Unfamiliar Records.)

The CD version includes additional artwork printed on card-stock.  The characters were designed by Kit Malo (http://www.lambsamongwolves.com/).  The cover and layout was designed by myself with initial input from Mike.

good renditions on that sappy comp! I especially like the Vailhalen song because it sounds like Todd Rundgren.
it's really interesting to hear Mike's songs in other people's hand.

(fun fact... due to some miscommunication, I recorded a version of Do You Want To Talk All Night too, but changed to Chimney Sweep at the last minute when I found out that 2 people had already done the former)

please, someone extend my congratulations to Mr Feuerstack, in case I can't get out of practice early enough to make it out.
it was nice seeing his smiling face in the rags on the subway this morning.

I shall make the probably appropriate assumptions then. I'm beginning to perfect the art of arriving just moments before the music actually starts.

Doors at 9pm ... make assumptions from there :)  Standard set-times o'clock is my best guess.

Mike truly deserves all the praise he gets.  Hopefully this is the summer more people find out about him.
