Show your love for Davy Love! And somebody bring a spare stylus. Duly copied and pasted from his facebuck entry.

Sneaky Dee's

After over 25 years (yes, 25!) of playing music in bars, restaurants, clubs, concert halls, warehouses, pirate radios, campgrounds, cars and cottages (plus maybe some other places I can’t really remember) in exotic places such as Berlin, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, Manchester, Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto and Uhh… Orillia.… (plus maybe some other places I can’t really remember) my career as a DJ has finally reached the end.

I promised myself that no matter what, I was not going to be spinning records after the age of 40, so seeing how I am turning 40 that very week, I thought that the 21st of June would be the ideal date to pull the proverbial (headphone) plug. One reason for the 21st is: A) the 21st is the Summer Solstice (which represents new birth and all that) and B: 21 can be divided by 7, which if you know me, is a number I hold dear to my heart.

In addition to this being my final DJ hurrah, it will also serve as a going away party for me, as I am moving away from Toronto quite soon to pursue some other avenues of interest (COLLEGE!!!) and mainly so I can be a little closer to my brilliant little daughter, Poppy… whom I miss terribly.

If you want to come out, bid farewell (or good riddance) and dance away the night with me one more time… clear your calendars for what will surely be one hell of a finale.

There will be a few short live sets from some close friends to start the night off right and then I will takeover the DJ controls for an extended solo set on my final DJ flight.

After that night, my records and discs will be up for sale… hell, I’m probably gonna end up giving away a lot of them that night to people who always requested certain things from me… or maybe I might even give some of them back to their rightful owners… haha… it only seems right.

Hope to see you there.

DJ: Davy Love

PS: in case you were wondering: WHAT ABOUT MAGNIFICENT SEVENS???

A: I will still be running my little 45 rpm record label from wherever I am.

]He carried my guitars for me @ Johnny Thunders in 89 @ the Apocalypse club & drove around with me & my roommates Fatman & Snake-belly to the old sneaky dees( when it was24/7 & you could order coffee all night ) when we were on acid beeing driven by a racist cab that looked like driver that looked like Jabba the Hutt. Oh ya he got me into Nirvana @ lee's  & smoked hash drank tea & listened to the Yardbirds when we were neighbours @ the Riot House .

Actually, one week before Davy's send-off at Sneaky Dee's, his record label -- Magnificent 7 Records -- has a NXNE festival showcase at The Silver Dollar.
   FRIDAY, JUNE 13.
Davy and I have worked together for 11 years: at Club Shanghai, The El Mocambo, and the NXNE festival this year will be one of our most daring projects ever.
We're bringing in a band called Oholics from Sweden and featuring them ALL THREE NIGHTS -- June 12.13.14 -- of the NeXT-at-NXNE show series I put together annually with the festival.
The band is so talented and passionate that we don't care if nobody knows of them yet. Three fucking nights we're presenting them!
And if you got respect for Davy and what he's contributed to the music scene of this city, then you'lll to the Silver Dollar to see the Oholics June 12, 13 or 14.
     Hope to see you there.
(ALSO: You spelled his name wrong: it's DAVY.)

There was an episode of Street Eats on SUN TV where they went to Pam's Roti and when the episode was done there was drool all over my shoes.

Here's what I saw on the episode in the kitchen: 1tablespoon each of: ginger, garlic, turmeric, cumin, corriander, salt, pepper, "chilie powder" (not that american chilie powder), basil, and 4 tablespoons of oil, 2 big cans of chick peas. Go to town. I wish I could make the roti.

One time I was stricken with impotence and Davy Love cured me by touching my lips with a Stereolab album. No lie.

Maybe forgot to mention that I can make dahlpuri from scratch, Doc. I don't even think Pam's makes that. You gotta come by for some.

Blow Up was great times, but Davy's finest hour is about to unfold.
Sweden's Oholics are coming to Toronto to be the featured act on three succesive nights of NeXT-at-NXNE at The Silver Dollar, June 12-13-14.
NXNE has put $4000 into the project and I've put my job on the line for this mission.
The Oholics have gone out on the limb financially, too, but we're all ready to rumble because Magnifiecnt 7 Records is about rock the world with an historic 7-inch record.
Two songs. One record. And 45 rpms of Magnifienct psych-garage-RnB from Sweden's next masters of rock. The Oholics.
The first pressing goes to the media, spearheading our promotion of this risky rock venture.
And by the time the record hits the stores, the Toronto shows -- we all believe -- will be sold out.
The release date should be any day now because shows are less than two weeks away.
The exact date: I don't know.
   Let's ask Davy!
Hey, Davy! When's the release date for the Oholics Magnificent 7 Canadian tour single?

Why is that?

hey... I want to take a second of my silly life here to thank Doc Pickles for doing this thread... and an equal thanks to all that offered such kind words about me... I know I'm not the mosat loveable people... and I know I've probably done a lot to make people in this scene incredibly angry at times... but I did it all in love.  Love with rock & roll and love with having a very good laugh.

so, thank you... thank you all.

yeah i was talking to the bassist at last night's dollar show (Blood Ceremony, Diablo Red, Sun of Sabbath, The Harold Wartooth - all fucking incredible, I must say). The Oholics are playing the Dees, but I'm not sure if he was even certain of the time..
