Nice one! That's a pretty great show all around.
My girlfriend's catching one of their London shows, which is insane.

Does this count as Tortoise admitting defeat? They weren't doing badly. I don't see why they have to be like, "OK, we'll just play the one you fuckers liked."

Meat Puppets is one of the best shows I've ever seen... Curt by himself... not so much...
10 years ago, I would have died to see that lineup... now... it might weird me out... maybe if yo la tengo did "I can hear the heart..." and GBV did "Mag Earwhig"...
I'd probably regress like those scenes in Altered States.

i loved seeing GVSB do this, but 1) it was a total surprise, 2) it was a one-off reunion show + 3) it was for their labels anniversary. all this other shit does seem like feeding the nostalgia machine more than need be. i guess i can understand wanting a second go at the career now that all of your fans are yuppie adults with money to burn, but fuck it gets me down. . . . that said, id kill to see Polvo.

Well...usually when a band is on tour they play most of their latest album. Perhaps they haven't played all these songs live in years. That's nice...no?

Well...usually when a band is on tour they play most of their latest album. Perhaps they haven't played all these songs live in years. That's nice...no? or maybe they just never made any money of an acknowledged classic album because it effectively bankrupted their label and now they're finally getting what they deserve...

Psychic Hearts bankrupted DGC?
Also, 2 true facts: marijuana bankrupted SST the first time around, and if anything was going to bankrupt Thrill Jockey it would be continuing to release Trans Am records long after their expiry date with guys who look like Buddy Holly.

im curious what that bankrupt thing was in reference to. Millions Living was hugely successful (by indie standards). if it hadnt been no one would be interested in hearing it played in full fifteen years later.

I think it was in reference to Loveless and Creation, though MBV aren't playing that album in its entirety far as I know. I think it was only the arrival of Oasis that saved the label's ass.

Possibly it was in relation to Mogwai and "continued releases despite close to a decade of near total public indifference".

This is pretty much the case for all those bands, including TM... 2 decades for the Meat Puppets...

Fuck Buttons are pretty awesome.
I'm already going to way too many big ticket shows this summer (Verve, Iron Maiden, Lollapalooza, Radiohead, Judas Priest) but I think I can squeeze this one in.

yes-i love that CD so much, and my bloody valentine-i love everything by them. just because its not current doesn't ever mean (and a good thing too because maybe i wasn't even born yet, in 84' just a zygote while they were touring loveless in 91'

Maybe it's the one they liked. Standards and TNT have "we're having a wayyyyy good time" written all over them.

Yeah, those records are way more fun, actually. Shit, the first few seconds of Standards blew my mind when I first got it... Millions Now Living is a late at night by yourself record as far as I'm concerned, I think TNT or Standards would be better live. Even though Millions is my favourite... hadn't thought about it til now... even though I know that wasn't what COLLINS was saying...
