Power-pop is the secret hero of your record collection. With jangly guitars, ear-pleasing harmonies, and a dance-ready backbeat, power-pop aims for your heart and your feet with short, ultra-catchy songs about girls and rock'n'roll.
Yellow Pills plays it all! On Thursday, April 24th, come on out to the lovely new Augusta House in Kensington and hear early inspirations like The Byrds and The Beatles; the crunchy 70's followers like Big Star, The Raspberries and Cheap Trick; the 80's janglers like R.E.M. and The Bangles; and the modern heroes like Matthew Sweet, Teenage Fanclub and The New Pornographers. Plus, there'll be plenty of new wavey gems from The Cars, Elvis Costello, and more to keep things fresh.
Best of all, there will be a live performance by one of Toronto's finest new bands, The Dress Whites. (Complete with Rickenbacker, aficionados!) Cover will be $5. Spring is in the air, so come on out and find the answer to the question, "Whatever happened to fun?"
